Located in the north of Queensland State of Australia, Townsville is the administrative, economic, industrial and commercial center of North Queensland. It covers an area of 3,736 square kilometers and has a population of 229,000.
The city has a diversified economy. Its large scale agriculture, animal husbandry and fruits planting enjoy good reputation. In addition, mining, metallurgical industry and port transportation are also highly developed.
As a tropical city, Townsville is of ample sunshine and charming beaches. World famous natural wonder-- Great Barrier Reef has been long considered as Townsville’s major attraction.
On April 30, 1995, Townsville signed Friendship City Agreement with Changshu.
